At Vietnamese and More, we believe in the power of food to bring people together, foster connection, and spread love. On July 22, 2024, we were deeply honored to be part of the King’s Table event, a transformative gathering that sought to extend Christ’s love and dignity to women from the red-light district, treating them as special guests of the King (Jesus).
The King’s Table was more than just a dinner. It was an opportunity to remind these women of their inherent value and the unconditional love God has for them. Through each carefully crafted dish, we aimed to create a meal that was as nourishing for the soul as it was for the body.
For this meaningful occasion, we presented a 4-course plated menu inspired by themes of provision, grace, and unity:
Plate 1: Nam Nueng Roll (Grilled Pork Roll) served with Chicken Salad (แหนมเนืองโรล เสิร์ฟพร้อมสลัดไก่) – Representing a fresh start and the balance that comes with faith
Plate 2: Man Tou with Belly Pork (Vietnamese Style) (หมั่นโถวหมูพะโล้) – A warm and comforting dish, symbolizing the embrace of God’s love.
Plate 3: Bun Bo Hue (Hue Style Beef Noodle Soup) (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเนื้อสไตล์เมืองเว้) – A rich and flavorful main course, reflecting the abundant provision of Christ.
Plate 4: Flan (Custard) (คัสตาร์ด) – A sweet and delicate dessert, celebrating the joy and unity found in God’s kingdom.
The atmosphere that evening was filled with joy, hope, and connection. It was incredibly moving to see how something as simple as sharing a meal could create a safe, welcoming space where these women felt seen, valued, and loved.
Being part of the King’s Table has reinforced our mission at Vietnamese and More to serve not just food, but also love and compassion to our community. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a powerful initiative, and we are inspired to continue using our platform to make a difference, one meal at a time.
